Cherry Hill West (N.J.) defensive end Lorenzo Hernandez has signed his Letter of Intent to play football at Villanova, the school announced this morning.
A 6’0" 250 lb. prospect, Hernandez excelled as a defensive tackle in high school, and also wrestled (LOVE those DLs who are former wrestlers!). He recorded 93 tackles and 10 sacks during his senior season, and blocked 5 kicks (4 FGs, 1 punt)! He was named 1st Team All-South Jersey and 2nd Team All-State in 2016.
Hernandez has incredible quickness off the snap and makes great use of his hands to shed blockers and make plays in the backfield. His speed is also a big asset, and we could envision him playing both inside and outside at Villanova.
Villanova lost both starters off of last year’s line in Tanoh Kpassagnon and Bryan Osei. Jeff Wiley showed flashes of being a star and Jafonta Johnson saw PT as well but Hernandez could be a guy who makes an early impact.
