That’s three hip surgeries in 18 months.

While the short-term news is that Darryl Reynolds is out for today’s game at Xavier (he’s officially listed as day-to-day with a rib injury), the long-term news is that redshirt freshman Tim Delaney will be out for the remainder of the season with a torn labrum in his left hip. This second season ending hip injury brings about questions about his future.

Delaney missed all of last season after having two surgeries, one on each hip. He was slowly making his way back int the rotation for Villanova this season, having appeared in 7 games mostly in mop-up duty. He’s now out with no timetable to return after having successful surgery on a torn labrum in his left hip.

What this means for Delaney’s impact at Villanova remains to be seen. It’s tough enough to come back from one hip surgery, much less three in 18 months. Here’s to a speedy recovery for Tim!
