College Basketball Rankings, Week 17: Villanova holds at #2

There’s a new #1 in College Hoops

NCAA Basketball: Creighton at Villanova Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

As College Basketball winds down the regular season, a new #1 is atop the AP Poll this week. Kansas who won their 13th consecutive Big-12 regular season championship jumped up to the top spot with 58 first place votes. The Jayhawks leap-frogged Villanova who took a loss to Butler, but defeated Creighton last week as ‘Nova was still able to claim two first-place votes. UCLA improves to #3, Gonzaga, last week’s #1 who lost to BYU, dropped to #4, and North Carolina comes in at #5.

The Wildcats are joined in the rankings by only one other Big East team this week as Butler comes in at #13.

Villanova next plays on Saturday against Georgetown in Washington DC.
