It’s list-cutting time in the recruiting world. 4-star combo guard Elijah Weaver has announced a Top 12, via Twitter. As you would expect, your Villanova Wildcats made the cut.

Yeah, 12 schools isn’t much of a cut. But at least now we know the direct competition for Weaver’s signature. Florida seems to be the biggest competition at this stage given his proximity.
Weaver is a 6’4” lefty who attends Oldsmar Christian (Fla.) and plays for Team Breakdown (UAA) on the AAU circuit. He’s big, strong, and is developing nicely as a potential point guard down the road. If you’re looking to compare him to a current Villanova player, he most closely resembles Donte DiVincenzo or Phil Booth from a positional fit- but Weaver is further along as a lead guard than either player was at the same stage.
Weaver, who has called Villanova his dream school on multiple ocassions, has been considered a priority target ever since he picked up an offer from Jay Wright last June. This appeared to be shaping up to be a ‘Nova-Louisville battle, but the Cardinals appear out of it after picking up a commitment from Courtney Ramey (in addition to a verbal from guard Anfernee Simons).
It looks like we have a while to go on this one given the long list, but expect the ‘Cats to stay in the mix unless another prospect were to commit first.
