At least at this moment, things are looking better for Villanova in the recruitment of 5-star Jalen Smith. Rivals’ Corey Evans caught up with the forward yesterday at the NBPA Top 100 Camp and Smith said he’s eyeing a July visit to the Main Line.
“I am probably going to visit Villanova in July, sometime after Peach Jam.”
Smith will miss out on the Villanova Wildcats Team Camp next weekend because of an official visit to Maryland. With the Terps widely considered the leader in his recruitment, that visit started to feel like the end of the recruitment. A July visit would give the Wildcats one last chance to impress before Smith makes his commitment.
Smith seems to be focusing on the Wildcats and Terrapins, but he recently took an unofficial visit to Georgetown to meet with new coach Patrick Ewing. Whether the Hoyas can gain a foothold in this recruitment remains to be seen.
