Andrew Nembhard cuts list, eliminates Villanova

No surprise, really.

Recently reclassified point guard Andrew Nembhard cut his list to 9 schools this weekend, and as expected Villanova are not in the running for his services any longer.

Nembhard was a 5-star point guard in the 2019 class that Villanova had offered, but they didn’t appear to ever gain any footing in his recruitment. He’s not a 4-star point guard in the 2018 class, ranked #31 nationally according to the 247 Composite.

When Nembhard reclassified to the class of 2018 earlier this month it seemed like an opportunity for Villanova - still in search of a point guard - to pitch him again. Nothing ever materialized, however.

For now Jay Wright and his staff will continue to push hard for David Duke and Jalen Carey. Duke has yet to schedule any of his official visits, while Carey is reportedly visiting Villanova in September.

If Villanova misses on both, they could opt to wait until 2019 where they have several offers out to elite guards.
