Villanova Basketball Holds At #1 In The AP Poll

New, comments

The Wildcats remain steady atop the polls.

NCAA Basketball: Villanova at Connecticut David Butler II-USA TODAY Sports

Villanova Basketball has been ranked #1 in the AP Poll for a third straight week and the sixth time this season. For those of you keeping track, that’s more than any other team this season. Villanova also held onto its 63 first place votes, with David Cloninger (Purdue #1) and Zach Osterman (Virginia #1) as the lone holdouts.

The Big East is now down to just two teams in the Top 25, but they’re both in the Top 10. Xavier moved up to #8 after winning at Seton Hall over the weekend. They do, however, now have three schools in the “Others Receiving Votes” category in Seton Hall, Creighton, and Providence.

The Wildcats return home to face the Friars tomorrow, and then head out to redeem last year’s loss as the #1 team at Marquette on Saturday.
