The Villanova Wildcats are still the #1 team in the AP Poll, but the Virginia Cavaliers are gaining ground. After receiving 63 first place votes last week, Villanova is down to 47 votes in this week’s poll. Meanwhile, Virginia is up to 17 first place votes after a road win at #4 Duke Blue Devils.

This is the Wildcats 4th consecutive week atop the polls, and their 7th week this season. Villanova is now just one week short of the school records for consecutive weeks at #1 (5) and total weeks at #1 in a season (8), both set last season.

The Big East remains strong at the top of the poll, with the Xavier Musketeers moving up to #6. Seton Hall and Creighton are still poised to jump back into the poll.
