Villanova Basketball alums prepare to start NBA Season

The NBA starts the season with the most Villanova players it’s ever had.

Happy Hump Day Nova Nation! While the NBA officially opened up the 2018-19 season last night, the majority of the action gets going this evening. It’s also a big night for Villanova fans, as nearly half of tonight’s games will feature former Wildcats. And former Champions Josh Hart and Ryan Arcidiacono don’t even play until tomorrow!

In total, eight former Villanova players have started the season on NBA rosters. That’s the most Wildcats in the NBA at the same time in school history. The former record was six in the 2006-07 season when Alvin Williams, Tim Thomas, and Malik Allen were joined by Randy Foye, Kyle Lowry, and Allan Ray. This season will see a similar influx of rookies, as veterans Kyle Lowry, Dante Cunningham, Ryan Arcidiacono, and Josh Hart are joined by draft picks Mikal Bridges, Donte DiVincenzo, Omari Spellman, and Jalen Brunson.

To help you stay up to date with how your favorite NBA stars from the Main Line are doing this season, VUHoops will soon be kicking off bi-weekly roundups of stats and story developments for all Nova’s former players. Be sure to stay tuned for the latest, and join us in rooting on some of the greatest players to ever come through the Villanova program. Once a Wildcat, Always a Wildcat!
