Villanova Defeats UNC in Not-So-Secret Scrimmage

Wildcats Beat the Tar Heels by 10 in the Phil Booth Classic

The Villanova Wildcats welcomed the University of North Carolina Tar Heels on Saturday for a “secret scrimmage,” and, according to reports, the ‘Cats came away with the 89-79 victory.

Phil Booth led all scorers with 41 (?!) points while Eric Paschall chipped in another 24 points on 6 made threes. Saddiq Bey scored 23 points on 5 threes. If you’re doing the math, that’s 88 of Villanova’s alleged 89 points. According to reports, Villanova made 20 total threes.

“The scrimmage helped us a great deal,” said UNC head coach Roy Williams. “It showed us early on that Villanova’s talent, experience and toughness was much better than ours because they were so much more active. As the game went along we got a little bit better but it was a slap in the face for us.”

Let’s dissect this scrimmage for the next three weeks.
