Happy Thursday Nova Nation! I hope you all had a great Halloween yesterday, and hopefully like me you got as close to a Villanova costume as you could. While I was roped into a family costume, I did get to go as “Cat Boy” from the Disney Jr. show ‘PJ Masks’. He’s a kid that wears a blue cat costume and fights crime... sounds like Will D. Cat to me!
Today’s lead story is that our pals over at the Palestra are finally selling out. Penn has decided to sell the naming rights of the court, which will now be the “Macquarie Court at the Palestra”. Yuck.
Actually, I’m completely fine with this move. It brings in additional funds for the school, the contract is only for a few seasons, and they’ve vowed they will never sell the naming rights to the building. As long as the Palestra is still “the Palestra”, slap a McDonald’s logo on center court for all I care.
Villanova will play on the “Macquarie Court at the Palestra” twice this season for away games against La Salle and Penn. While we all know the Pavilion court is destined to be named after either Wright or Massimino (it has to, right?), it might not be a bad idea to make a few bucks on it in the meantime. Which begs me to ask, what company would you want sponsoring the new court in “The Finn”:
