Happy Monday Nova Nation! It’s New Year’s Eve, a day the Big East tried to take over for a hot second before moving their full day schedule to MLK Day. So without that fun kick-off, we’re sadly lacking a Nova game today.

However, that gives us a minute to take a final look back at the 2018 National Championship team. It was clearly an amazing and talented group, the NBA Draft proved that. But that math people over at FiveThirtyEight.com have put together a formula to compare every team from every major sport that played in 2018. And when compared against the best of the best, Villanova ranked in the Top 5.

The Wildcats finished #4 Overall behind the Boston Red Sox, Houston Astros, and the current edition of the Alabama Crimson Tide Football Team. That’s some pretty amazing company seeing they’ve all dominated their competition, but the rest of the list that Nova beat out is equally impressive.

Villanova ranked higher than the NBA Champion, both College Football Championship teams, both NFL Super Bowl teams, the current best team in the NFL, and all of the NHL. Let’s just enjoy that for a second.

Here’s to a great 2018, and much success in 2019 as well! Have a great/safe time tonight Nova Nation! Happy New Year!

In other “news”, Nova enters Big East play ‘behind’ Marquette, top plays from 2018, and the PAC-12 sucks. Enjoy!
