The honors for Jalen Brunson continue to roll in. On Tuesday, the Villanova point guard was named to the Associated Press’s 1st Team All-America.
Brunson, who was named the East Region’s Most Outstanding Player last weekend, is averaging 19.2 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game this season. He is joined on the first team by three freshmen, Trae Young from Oklahoma, DeAndre Ayton from Arizona, and Duke’s Marvin Bagley III as well as Kansas’s Devonte’ Graham.
The Illinois native becomes the 6th Wildcat to earn first team All-America Honors. He joins Josh Hart (2017), Scottie Reynolds (2010), Randy Foye (2006), Kerry Kittles (1996), and Paul Arizin (1950).
Villanova was also represented on the AP’s Third Team by Mikal Bridges who averaged 18.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists this season as he shot 52.1% from the field Including 43.3% 3FG.
