Lost in all the Final Four hoopla on Saturday was a bit of recruiting news relevant to the Villanova Wildcats. City of Basketball Love’s Josh Verlin is reporting that 2019 4-star forward Eric Dixon will announce his college commitment in the coming weeks.
Whoever adds the 6-8 Abington (Pa.) PF will be getting a hard-working left-hander with range out to the 3-point arc and a terrific post game/motor/toughness.

Dixon retweeted the report, so it would appear we’re officially on #CommitWatch in April. For reference, the first April Live Period runs from April 20-22. Dixon’s WE-R-1 program plays on the Under Armour circuit.
Dixon plays for Abington High School right down the road from Villanova, and is coached by former Wildcat great Gary Massey. Most analysts have perceived this as a Villanova-Virginia battle for some time.
If you’re into the Crystal Ball, all six predictions are currently for ‘Nova.
The 4-star combo-forward is a little undersized at 6’6” and a little on the heavy side at a reported 250 pounds. But he’s ultra-skilled in the post and has shooting range out to the 3-point line. His versatility has drawn offers from Seton Hall, Miami and Georgetown in addition to the ‘Cats and Hoos.
Already a member of USA Basketball to boot, he’s exactly the type of prospect that Jay Wright and his staff have brought in, molded, and turn into fantastic college players. Like Kris Jenkins and Omari Spellman, he looks ripe for the John Shackleton S&C program.
Keep your eyes peeled as we move into April - Dixon could continue the Wildcats torrid start to spring.
