Happy Wednesday Nova Nation! Another day, another Wildcat declares for the draft. Thank you for everything Jalen Brunson, you’re a gentleman and a scholar. The declarations are expected to keep coming as Donte DiVincenzo, Omari Spellman, and Eric Paschall are all rumored to at least “test the waters” leading up to the NBA draft.
But today we take a minute to realize that while it’s all good on the Main Line, the rest of the college basketball world is still dealing with the looming cloud of the FBI investigation. Yesterday Kansas was officially added to the schools tied to the investigation, the first “Blue Blood” linked to possible violations.
While this doesn’t have too much of an impact on Villanova, Kansas is on the schedule for the next two seasons. There are also a number of high level recruits that still have both schools on their lists. It will be interesting to see how this effects recruiting for the program, and more importantly, how long it takes for the issue to be resolved. While the Jayhawks haven’t been accused of anything (yet), Kansas could have this cloud hanging over them for a while and other schools could use that against them with recruits.
