Villanova Basketball’s All-Time Rebound Leaders: 2018 Update

Mikal Bridges becomes the newest member of the 500 Club.

With the 2017-18 season in the books and another National Championship in hand, it’s time to update the Villanova record books. This season three new players have joined the all-time ranks, while Mikal Bridges and Jalen Brunson cemented themselves as two of the program’s greats. Check in all week as we update a new category each day.

Any time any Villanova player is asked in a press conference what the keys to victory are on the court, they all have the same response without fail: Rebounds and Defense. No player embodied those two skills this past season better than Mikal Bridges. He’s made a career out of focusing on defensive stops and rebounds, and letting that fuel his game on the offensive end.

So it’s no surprise that Bridges became that newest member of Villanova’s 500 Rebound club. Bridges is just the 10th Villanova player to record 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, and 100 blocks in their career, that is since blocks became a stat in the late 70’s. He recorded his 500th rebound in the NCAA Tournament National Championship against Michigan.

Looking ahead, Donte DiVincenzo (343), Eric Paschall (335), and Omari Spellman (321) will all have a chance at reaching the 500 mark next season.
