Villanova Mug Arizin Links

Happy Tuesday Nova Nation! Today there are A LOT of links about the NBA draft today. It can’t be avoided, especially when Villanova could be sending off four players from a championship team and all of them could end up in the first round. But before we get to all of that in the links, I wanted to shift topics for a second and talk about Jalen Brunson playing baseball.

Brunson seems to be the least talked about sure fire 1st round college player of the year ever. I guess in a way it makes sense why his teammates have been getting most of the press. Mikal Bridges gets the hype as a Top 10 pick, Donte DiVincenzo was the darling of the Combine, and what Omari Spellman will decide to do is anyone's guess.

But Jalen Brunson remains calm, cool, and collected heading through the pre-draft process. Sure there have been distractions in the offseason, but to the shock of no one he’s showed why he’s going to be a great pro with his poise and handling of anything that comes his way. That’s why it’ll be nice to see him have a little fun when he heads out to Wrigley Field tonight to throw out the first pitch for his favorite baseball team, the Chicago Cubs.

This is actually Brunson’s second time throwing out the first pitch, each coming after one of this two Championships. Last time he was a little high over the plate, so hopefully he’s worked on his mechanics since that freshman season. Joking aside though, Brunson is arguably the most accomplished Villanova basketball player of all time, and I just wanted to make sure his own journey to the draft wasn’t getting lost in the shuffle.

In other “news”, DiVincenzo is leaning towards the draft (or is he?), Spellman’s future is still up in the air, Bridges looks like a Top 10 lock, and Jhavon Quinerly had some impressive plays this season. Enjoy!
