Former N.C. State signee Saddiq Bey commits to Villanova

Villanova has added to an already stellar freshmen class.

The Villanova Wildcats have made a surprise addition to their 2018 recruiting class with the addition of 4-star wing Saddiq Bey. Bey visited the Main Line on Wednesday and that was enough to seal the deal for the Sidwell Friends (D.C.) product.

Bey chose the Wildcats after being released from his NLI at North Carolina State. He also considered Vanderbilt and Georgetown following his release.

Standing 6’7”, Bey is exactly the type of versatile wing that has thrived in recent years under Jay Wright’s tutelage. He already possesses a versatile offensive game, and defensively he should fit seamlessly into Villanova’s switching scheme with the ability to guard several positions.

The quotes from this Washington Post feature on Bey from this Spring will get you excited. Here’s a sample.

“He’s got so many skills and contrary to what people may not see, he’s a really good passer,” Singletary said. “He brings defensive versatility, perimeter shooting and post-up shooting. He’s just a really good shooter, can create own shot, plays well with others, and so [NC State] will get an all-around player offensively.”

Bey joins Jahvon Quinerly, Cole Swider, Brandon Slater and Joe Cremo as the new faces in the Villanova program. The Wildcats have an extremely full roster next season, which should breed excellent competition for playing time this Summer and Fall.

Welcome to ‘Nova Nation, Saddiq! It’s a great day to be a Wildcat!
