Villanova’s Kris Jenkins could be back in the NBA Summer League

The man who hit the biggest shot in Villanova history could be heading back to NBA Summer League.

Happy Thursday Nova Nation! It’s still just a rumor at this point, but we heard multiple times yesterday that Kris Jenkins could be returning to the hardwood this summer with the San Antonio Spurs Summer League team. I dug through every corner of the internet I could last night to try to verify this, but sadly no luck. For now, the closest thing we have to verification is a message from Nova’s own John Shackleton:

Considering the source and the visual evidence, I’m going to lean towards this being true. It has yet to be announced by the Spurs or reported by any of the media that follows them, but hopefully that will break in the next few days.

This is great news considering the last time we saw Jenkins was at the Final Four, where he looked like he was out of playing shape. Now he looks primed to give a pro career at the NBA level another go, and it was just announced that his former classmate Josh Hart will also be in Vegas with the Lakers. Not all the rosters are out yet, but we’re still waiting on names like Arcidiacono, Ochefu, Hilliard, Pinkston, or even James Bell who played with the Clippers last summer.

One more thing, this is yet another brick in what needs to be some sort of monument built to John Shackleton. Seriously, retire a jersey, build a statue, name a building, SOMETHING. This guy is going to reach Jake Nevin levels by the time he’s done at Nova, if he’s not there already.

In other “news”, Eric Paschall looks like the best NBA prospect on Nova’s roster, the Wildcats need your vote, and Jalen Brunson is an inspiration. Enjoy!
