Happy Tuesday Nova Nation! Lots of good stuff today, including a look at Jahvon Quinerly and Jelly Fam. But first let’s take a look at why NCAA.com is naming Phil Booth to the all-sleeper team.
I don’t know how it’s possible to sleep on Phil Booth after he scored 20 points in the 2016 National Title game, but apparently that’s the case. But joking aside, it’s not hard to see why Booth took a back seat last season. Between his mid-season broken hand and the breakout seasons of a few of his teammates, Booth didn’t need to carry the load on offense.
That said, his presence on defense was clearly missed while he recovered from injury. Booth was a stabilizing force on both ends of the court and a leader on the sidelines. Now with a slew of younger teammates around him, it’s entirely possible that Booth’s full offensive potential shines through. Then again, he’d be just as good reprising the “glue guy” role from last season while leaving the heavy lifting on offense to players like Paschall and Quinerly. Either way, Booth will likely play the most important role on the team. That would be whatever role Jay Wright needs him to play.
In other “news”, Jelly Fam, ‘Crootin, ‘Cruitin’, and Spellman ready for his NBA role. Enjoy!
