Isaiah Stewart cuts list to 6 schools, including Villanova

The 5-star big man is the top target on the board for Villanova.

USA Basketball

2019 5-star forward Isaiah Stewart has cut his list to 6 schools, and should begin setting official visits soon. He announced the move on Twitter this evening. He’s down to Villanova, Duke, Syracuse, Michigan State, Indiana and Washington.

Stewart hails from Rochester, N.Y. and plays for the City Rocks program (Nike) but attends basketball powerhouse La Lumiere (Ind.) for school. He was also on the USA Basketball team that won a gold medal this Summer.

At 6’9”, 245 pounds and a 7’4” wingspan, Stewart is ready to contribute wherever he lands from day one. Ranked #7 in the 247 Composite Rankings, he has an incredible motor on the court with a rapidly developing offensive game. He’s arguably the best rebounder in the entire class as well and thrives using his strength to out-muscle and work opponents on the block. While his shot isn’t as reliable as say, Omari Spellman, he has shown improvement this Summer and scouts rave about his upside.

Currently, Duke is the overwhelming favorite in the 247 Crystal Ball, but Villanova does have one (recent) pick from national expert Brian Snow. Stewart took an unofficial visit to Villanova in late April and had great things to say, but the ‘Cats will need to get him back on campus if they want to beat out the Blue Devils for his signature.
