NCAA Basketball: DePaul at Villanova Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

Villanova remains on the outside looking in when it comes to the AP Poll this week. The Wildcats would be the next team in, but wins over DePaul and Providence were predictably not enough to get them back into the Top 25.

This makes it four consecutive weeks that Villanova has been unranked, and five total for the season. It’s the longest consecutive streak since the start of the 2013-14 season, and the most total weeks unranked since 2012-2013.

However, the Wildcats may have a chance to put that streak to bed with the newly ranked #24 St. John’s Red Storm coming to the Finn on Tuesday night. It will be the first time Villanova has played a higher ranked team on campus since #6 Xavier on New Year’s Eve in 2015.

The Johnnies join #21 Marquette, who they beat last week by 20 points, as the only two ranked Big East teams. Villanova (56) is joined in the “Others Receiving Votes” category by Seton Hall (14).
