Happy Wednesday Nova Nation! In the opening game of the 2020 NBA season, it was a pair of Villanova Wildcats that rose to the occasion for their teams. First it was Kyle Lowry, who before the game addressed the crowd and unveiled the Raptors new NBA Championship Banner.

Following that celebration, a great game broke out. Lowry had 22 points, adding 6 assists and 5 rebounds in a winning effort for the champs. But possibly the more impressive effort on the night went to another Villanova alumnus in the Pelican’s Josh Hart.
Hart injured his ankle in the first half, and had to return early to the locker room to have it looked at and treated. But he was then able to return in the second half to put up a double-double and help force overtime for a team that was missing it’s newest star, Zion Williamson. Hart had 15 points and 10 rebounds in 28 minutes, all three of which were game highs for New Orleans bench players. He also showed off some clutch shooting late as the Pelicans tried to pull off the opening night upset.

It should be another great NBA season as there are eight former Wildcats playing on seven teams this season. Tonight you can catch Ryan Arcidiacono (Bulls), Jalen Brunson (Mavs), and Mikal Bridges (Suns). Tomorrow is opening night for Donte DiVincenzo (Bucks), Omari Spellman (Warriors), and Eric Paschall (Warriors).
