Happy Thursday Nova Nation! With the 2019 season in the books, attention shifts back from the college game to the remaining undecided players in the Class of 2019. Some of the top names among this year’s seniors will be on display for Team USA at the Nike Hoops Summit tomorrow in Oregon, and among them will be Villanova commits Justin Moore and Jeremiah Robinson-Earl.
Even if you can’t head to the North West to see them play this week, Villanova fans should expect to see a lot of these two next season. Robinson-Earl is coming off a National Championship, and projects to be an immediate starter in a Villanova frontcourt that will be as deep as it’s ever been. Moore may not project in the starting lineup, but he is coming off an amazing season that saw him be decorated as the DC area’s best player. And even more important, he may end up being the most impactful member of the incoming class.
With the departure of Jahvon Quinerly via transfer, the Wildcats are left without a true point guard on their team for the first time in forever. Collin Gillespie, who stepped into the starting PG role this past season, is the only guard that returns from last year’s squad amid a sea of wings and big men. That means there will be a TON of opportunity for Moore to step up immediately into the backup roll. Even if Villanova brings in a transfer for additional depth at guard, Wright loves to play multiple ball handlers at once. If Moore can pick up Villanova’s systems quickly, he has the potential to contribute immediately and possibly even break into the starting five.
In other “news”, spring football is underway, Kyle Lowry’s getting paid, and we find out what a black hole looks like... kind of. Enjoy!
