With the 2019 season over and the Villanova Wildcats holding Big East regular season and tournament titles, it’s time to update the record books. The Wildcats said goodbye to two of the greats this season, but their names and numbers will live on in the All-Time Stats. This week we’ll be going through the five major stat categories and updating them with the accomplishments from the past year.
Some of Villanova’s big men became elite shot blockers due to their monstrous size. Others used a condor-like wing span to swat balls out of the air. But Paschall did it with pure athleticism and speed.
Eric Paschall was never a true rim protector, even in his sophomore season playing an undersized center role. But he’s always possessed superior athleticism and speed which allowed him to simply get to the apex of his opponents shot faster than they could get the ball there. His numbers don’t jump off the page, but his consistency and skill are what has made him a member of the 50 block club. He finished his career at Villanova with 59 blocks, tying him with other greats like Marc Dowdell, James Bryson, Chuck Kornegay, and former teammate Omari Spellman.
Looking ahead to 2020, Dhamir Cosby-Roundtree (47) and Jermaine Samuels (30) are on pace to join the 50 block club.
