Villanova Basketball’s All-Time Steal Leaders: 2019 Update

No new additions to the 100 Steals Club

NCAA Basketball: Big East Tournament-Villanova vs Providence Noah K. Murray-USA TODAY Sports

With the 2019 season over and the Villanova Wildcats holding Big East regular season and tournament titles, it’s time to update the record books. The Wildcats said goodbye to two of the greats this season, but their names and numbers will live on in the All-Time Stats. This week we’ll be going through the five major stat categories and updating them with the accomplishments from the past year.

Despite Villanova’s senior leaders coming awfully close to the 100 steals club, there will be no new additions in 2019. Phil Booth came up just two short, tying a career high 30 steals on the season to give him 98 for his career. Eric Paschall actually did finish with 101 career steals, but 21 of them came in his freshman year at Fordham before transferring to Villanova.

This is the first season since 2013 that hasn’t seen an addition to the list. Recent additions since then include Kris Jenkins (101), Daniel Ochefu (109), James Bell (111), JayVaughn Pinkston (113), Josh Hart (160), Mikal Bridges (163), Ryan Arcidiacono (169), and Darrun Hilliard (176). The 2019 team was led by Collin Gillespie’s 39 steals, and Saddiq Bey was second with 31.

Looking ahead to 2020, Collin Gillespie (58) will have a chance to join the 100 steals club. The next closest Wildcats are Dhamir Cosby-Roundtree (37) and Saddiq Bey (31).
