Villanova at Ohio State
Michigan State at Seton Hall
Creighton at Michigan
Purdue at Marquette
Providence at Northwestern
Penn State at Georgetown
Minnesota at Butler
DePaul at Iowa
This BIG EAST vs. Big Ten series of games is named after Dave Gavitt, the former Providence head basketball coach and the first commissioner of the BIG EAST.
Villanova is 2-1 in the Gavitt Games having defeated Nebraska in 2015, Purdue in 2016, and losing to Michigan last season.
‘Nova and the Buckeyes have surprisingly only met three times historically, with Ohio State winning two of the three games. The two schools have a combined 17 Final Fours between them and met in the 1939 National Semifinal at The Palestra (Ohio State eventually lost to Oregon). The next meeting was during the 1974-75 season with the ‘Cats winning. The last game was Jay Wright’s only game against OSU; a 67-66 loss November of 2003 at the Maui Invitational.
Villanova’s full 2019-20 schedule is expected to be released around Labor Day.
