How many wins will Villanova Basketball need to win the Big East Title

It only took 13 wins to become champs in 2019. What will it take in 2020?

Villanova Mug Arizin Links

Happy Tuesday Nova Nation! Our friends over at the mother ship went ahead and gave us their ranking projections for the Big East this season. Naturally, Villanova sits in the #1 spot. But it got me thinking that with expected improvement nearly across the board for Big East teams, how many wins will it take for Villanova to make that projection into a reality.

Last season the Wildcats limped into the winners circle, thanks in large part to an absolute collapse by the only other real competition for the title in Marquette. It was the first time since 2007 that a team won the Big East Regular Season Championship with just 13 wins. Here’s a quick look at the 1st place finishes over that span:

In the final season during which the Big East will play 18 regular season games, you’d have to think things will return to the norm. On average over the last thirteen seasons the winner has finished with around 15 wins, but what will the magic number be in 2020? I leave it to you Nova Nation, how many wins will it take for Villanova to walk away with their sixth Championship in seven years?
