Welcome back to another day of the VU Hoops 2019 Summer Tournament: Hometown Heroes. Be sure to check out our Tournament Hub for an interactive hometown map, updated bracket, and links to our tournaments from previous seasons.
We’ve reached the Final Four. Two #1 seeds and two #2 seeds have advanced to our final week of the tournament. All of the hotbed recruiting areas are covered: Philly, New York, DC... Florida. One old school team, one new school team, and two teams that have the best of both. Let’s see whose hometowns will be represented in our Championship Game!
#1 West Philadelphia: West & West Catholic vs #2 The Bronx
The #1 overall seed West Philly has won their region, but can they continue their dominant run to the summer tournament crown? Hubie White, Jim Washington, and Jim Huggard haven’t shown any signs of slowing down yet. But standing in their way now is Ed Pinckney, Allen Ray, and Corey Fisher. It’s Philadelphia vs New York with a trip to the Championship on the line!

#1 South East USA vs #2 Maryland: DC Suburbs
It’s the actual South vs those that just think they’re the South (I’ll let you decide who’s who). South East USA may be headlined by the Florida trio of Howard Porter, Johnny Jones, and James Bell, but they also draw from Georgia and the Carolinas. Meanwhile Maryland/DC’s trio of Josh Hart, Dante Cunningham, and Kirs Jenkins have been one of the most dominant teams in the tournament. One way or the other, someone under the Mason-Dixon line is headed for the Championship!
