The (for now) #18 Villanova Wildcats of the gridiron are riding high this week following their road upset of #5 Towson this weekend. It was a thrilling 52-45 overtime victory that puts Villanova squarely into the conversation for CAA and National Championship contention.

This is the kind of high level performance we’ve been waiting for under head coach Mark Ferrante. And that’s not his fault, his first two seasons were marred by injuries at key positions. Now at full strength and with the offense executing, Villanova is showing why it’s always considered a threat in the best conference FCS football has to offer.
Villanova is off to its best start since their Championship season when they began the year 5-0. In order to match that mark this season they’ll need to beat another ranked team from the CAA, Maine. The Black Bears (2-2) were ranked 12th before beating Colgate over the weekend, however they had previously lost to Towson. There’s a good chance Nova will jump them in the polls later today, setting up yet another Top 20 FCS matchup.
Congratulations again to Villanova Football on the victory, and good luck on Saturday!
