Happy Tuesday Nova Nation! Junior cornerback Jaquan Amos is so good at football that even when he doesn’t play he’s the best defensive player in the FCS. Kidding aside, Amos’s 7 tackles and defensive touchdown against Colgate two weekends ago have earned him the season’s first FCS National Defensive Player of the Week.

And of course if you win the national award, your conference is likely to follow suit as well. Amos was also named the season’s first CAA Defensive Player of the Week!

As great as the individual accomplishment is, football is still a team sport. Well good news, the whole team also had reason to celebrate as the Wildcats jumped into the STATS FCS Poll at #24. The team had previously been in the “receiving votes” category, effectively placing them tied for 42nd overall. That’s one heck of a jump after just one game!
The Wildcats will look to keep that momentum going this Saturday night in their season opener against Lehigh University. Go Cats Go!
In other “news”, former Villanova basketball player Chuck Kornegay became a HS Athletic Director, undrafted free agent Ethan Greenidge earned a spot on the Saints’ active roster, and Ryan Arcidiacono gives life guarding a try... kind of. Enjoy!
