Jay Wright has struck gold with some four-star and five-star recruits. The Villanova head coach has also found some hidden gems in a few under-recruited prospects.
He’s also been lucky enough to earn some big recruiting wins after a player’s high school senior year. Two of those players, Eric Paschall and Saddiq Bey are the main focus of a couple feature stories on Thursday’s Arizin.
The San Francisco Chronicle and Philadelphia Inquirer’s Mike Jensen can put it better, and it’s a nice coincidence that both happen to recently write about these two players (links below). Paschall initially played at Fordham before coming to the Main Line. Meanwhile, Bey was originally set to go to N.C. State, but de-committed and eventually rerouted his destination for Villanova, Pa.
There were some lucky breaks to get these two onto campus, and I’m sure Wright and the Wildcat program feel more than grateful that it things worked out the way they did.
And now, “the news:”
