Happy Thursday Nova Nation! Short and sweet today as it’s a busy one for your boy, but I wanted to re-post the press conference from last night featuring Jay Wright, Justin Moore, and Saddiq Bey.
Some key takeaways:
- Turnovers were an early problem for the Cats, but they did a better job in the second half
- St. John’s did a great job keeping Nova out of the lane, and it made players more tentative
- Jeremiah Robinson-Earl is a great weapon against pressure, and hit 7 consecutive free throws
- Don’t know severity of Collin Gillespie’s injury. He says he’s ok, but Jay decided to keep him out the final minutes of the game
- Wright wishes his team would show more toughness, and had Kyle Lowry talk to them after the game. Felt they showed toughness at Xavier, but they took a step back against St. John’s.
- Jay Wright loved Kyle Lowry’s “between the legs” play against the Bucks, showed his toughness and competitiveness
- Wright’s favorite moment of the night was seeing Lowry interact with his sons. “That’s the best thing as a coach you can see.”
Also in case you missed it, here’s Kyle Lowry’s jersey retirement as seen from the not-so-cheap seats:
In other “news”, Mary Gedaka makes the NCAA’s “Starting Five”, Kyle Lowry’s jersey retirement, and a great interview with Darryl Reynolds. Enjoy!
