Villanova Basketball looks to continue winning streak against Providence

Here comes Cooley!

Mug2

Happy Friday Nova Nation! With just three games left in the regular season, the Villanova Wildcats welcome Ed Cooley and the Providence Friars to town for the final home game of the season. Providence is one of just two schools that Villanova has faced over 100 times in program history, and the Wildcats lead the series 63-38.

A big reason for Villanova’s 25 game lead has been the last seven seasons, also known as the time since conference realignment. In that time, the Wildcats are 15-2 including a 2-1 record in overtime. The only time in recent years the Friars have gotten the best of the Wildcats at home came at the Wells Fargo Center in a game that got delayed due to snow. The good news is that the forecast for tomorrow is just sun and clouds.

The Wildcats come into the game on a five game winning streak, and are trying to keep pace with Seton Hall and Creighton as they compete for the Big East Regular Season Title. On the other side, Providence is squarely on the bubble for the NCAA Tournament and could use a big road win to firm up their resume. With so much on the line for both teams, it should be a good one in South Philly this weekend.

So for today’s Game Day Poll, we’re going to open things back up to the entire team. Who will be Villanova’s leading scorer this weekend?
