It’s Villanova’s last chance to keep their title hopes alive, and they’ve got to take down the first place Pirates to do it.

Happy Monday Nova Nation. Wednesday night’s game at the Prudential Center has turned into exactly what fans predicted it would be at the start of the season: a battle for the Big East Regular Season Championship.

The Seton Hall Pirates enter the game having already clinched a share of the title thanks to both Villanova and Creighton suffering upset losses over the weekend. But the Jersey boys aren’t going to settle for a share of their first title since 1993, they want it outright. They’ll have at least two shots at the outright title when they host Villanova and when they travel to Creighton.

Meanwhile, the Villanova Wildcats remain in the hunt for a share of the title. It starts on Wednesday night when they’ll need to beat Seton Hall on the road. Considering the team is working through injuries and coming off their coldest shooting performance of the last two seasons, that may seem like a Herculean task. However, there are a few things working in Villanova’s favor. All of Seton Hall’s Big East losses this season have come at home. Also, it will be senior night for Myles Powell, Quincy McKnight, Romaro Gill, and Asiah Avent. Traditionally, the emotion and excitement of that night can have a negative effect on their performances (see Phil Booth and Eric Paschall last year when Jermaine Samuels had to step up against Marquette). It’s no guarantee that any of it will play to Nova’s favor, but I’m saying there’s a chance.

Creighton fans will also be pulling for Nova on Wednesday, as they too now need a Seton Hall loss in order to have a chance to play for a share of the title on Saturday. The Big East in March has no shortage of Big Games, and this one is gonna be a doozie.

In other news, Villanova Women’s Swimming & Diving takes home the Big East Championship, Eric Paschall has another big night, and Villanovans continue to win big with the Fulbright Awards. Enjoy!
