Happy Friday Nova Nation! Many of us have been filling up some of the down time by re-watching some of our favorite Villanova games. But in this time of quarantining and social distancing, coordinating these viewings can get a little tricky. Never fear Nova fans, because this Sunday at 4:00 PM ET, we can all huddle around our TVs to watch as CBS airs the thrilling 2016 National Championship game between Villanova and North Carolina.
Obviously this game is most famous for what may be the greatest final few seconds in any basketball game ever. An insane circus three by Marcus Paige to tie the game, only to be one-upped by Kris Jenkins and a Championship winning buzzer-beater. But this game has so many great moments that sometimes get forgotten when just watching the final 4.7 seconds:
- Ochefu’s follow up tip/dunk
- Hart’s turn-around fade away jumper from the baseline
- Hart’s block/Booth’s jumper to end the first half
- Bridges’ baseline dunk
- Booth’s step-back three
- Jenkins’ turn-around fade away jumper from the baseline
- Arcidiacono’s spin and jumper in the paint
- Booth’s spin and fade away jumper in the paint
- ALL of the free throws in the final minute, but especially Hart’s
- And of course, “For The Championship...”
Join us this weekend as we Live Chat through the whole game in the comments and on twitter. In fact, we’ll get two weekends of Championships as the 1985 Title Game will air next Sunday. We may not have March Madness this season, but this is going to help a little bit!
In other “news”, Nova is an early favorite for next season, Scottie Reynolds checks in from France, and Saddiq Bey is on everyone’s draft board. Enjoy!
