With everyone going on in our daily lives, it is easy to forget that it is officially ‘crootin season for college basketball coaches. 2021 guard Angelo Brizzi reminded us all when he announced he had received an offer from Jay Wright and the Villanova Wildcats last night.

Brizzi is a 6’3” 170 pound (lefty!) guard who attends Highland High School (VA). He’s currently non-rated on 247 Sports.
Prior to the ‘Nova offer, Brizzi was mostly being recruited at the low and mid-major level by the likes Yale, Dartmouth, George Washington and several others. He’s prioritizing the academic side of college ball as well.
Brizzi’s shining attribute is that he’s a lights-out shooter. He’s got a very quick (albeit low) release and at least in high school doesn’t need much time or room to get his shot off. He’s got good size for the backcourt and he has some crafty moves that he uses to get to the rim instead of settling on the perimeter.
Wright and staff clearly see something they like and are looking to nab another diamond in the rough before anyone else at their level gets involved.
With Collin Gillespie entering his final year guard will certainly be a priority for Wright and his staff. Brizzi joins a list of guard offers that includes Trevor Keels, Max Christie, Langston Love and Jordan Longino. Wing Trey Patterson and forward Nnanna Njoku also hold offers.
