The University of Texas released their 2020-21 non-conference schedule on Thursday and a notable detail was missing.
In April, Jon Rothstein noted that Villanova was traveling to Austin to take on the Longhorns as a part of the Big 12 / BIG EAST Challenge- an announcement that was warmly welcomed by Nova Nation.
The Longhorns’ schedule only has a placeholder for the BIG EAST Challenge noting that they will play, “on Sunday, Dec. 6 against an opponent to be determined as part of the Big 12/Big East Battle.”

Without confirmation, one can quickly assume that the Villanova administration may be trying to pull back travel for the athletic teams through the balance of 2020 because of the Coronavirus Pandemic. As of July 2nd, the state of Texas has reported 182,000 positive cases and 2,562 deaths.
‘Nova and Texas played each other three times across four seasons from 2006 to 2009 with the Longhorns holding a 1-2 edge over Jay Wright’s program.
