Villanova holds at #3 in newest AP Poll

Bulldogs, Bears, and ‘Cats remain at the top of the rankings.

The Villanova Wildcats (10-1, 5-0) have maintained their #3 ranking in the newest AP Poll released on Monday following a return to action from a COVID-related pause from basketball activities. ‘Nova dispatched Seton Hall by 2 and Providence by 15 to hold steady behind the nation’s top 2 teams; Gonzaga and Baylor.

Gonzaga remains the nation’s #1 collecting 61 of the 64 First Place votes; Baylor, at #2, tallied the other First Place votes to stay at #2 for the eighth consecutive week. Michigan and Texas round out the Top 5.

BIG EAST frenemies Creighton dropped to #17 as Connecticut dropped out of the Top 25 but is collecting votes alongside Xavier.

Florida State, Oklahoma, and Louisville entered the polls this week as Oregon, UConn, and Clemson dropped out.

Villanova returns to action on Thursday, 1/28 when they travel to Storrs to take on the BIG EAST’s newest program- UConn Huskies.
