College basketball is (almost) back! With the season right around the corner, Hoops Mania set for Friday night, the countdown until tip-off is on!
I just want to say thank you to everyone that has supported the show through the first six seasons, Chris Stanziale and I definitely appreciated it and want to say thank you to everyone who listened. We will be stepping down, but the show will be in great hands for Season 7 and beyond.
As we bid farewell and thank everybody, the torch is being passed to Patrick Zeng and Emma Houghton, two Villanova graduates with radio backgrounds. Pat is a former VU Hoops writer from his college days. They also host another show, the “Did You Hear?” podcast, where they go over a variety of different sports. They’re going to enhance the show, and Emma was already hustling at Big East Media Day last week, and got some good sound clips for the show.
Six seasons, 170 episodes — thank you, but the show will go on with those two, please support them, because you’re going to love this first episode and what they produce next for Season 7.
The podcast is also available for free on iTunes/Apple Podcasts, Google Play Music, Stitcher and Spotify (a bit later in the day)! You may also listen to the newest episode at the very bottom of the post.
Episode description: Eugene and Chris are joined by Emma Houghton and Pat Zeng to kick off the brand new season of State of the Nova Nation and make a big announcement. One door closes, but another one opens. We take a look back at Eugene and Chris’ six seasons on the show, say some good byes and introduce Emma and Pat, two Villanova grads with radio backgrounds, before running through one last mailbag with the original duo. Emma and Pat then bring you their thoughts from Big East Media Day with sounds from Jay Wright and Justin Moore. From their preseason thoughts with this year’s Villanova Wildcats, to a broad look at preseason accolades and the Big East Conference as a whole, college basketball is (almost) back!
