Villanova (14-3, 9-2) improved two spots to #8 in the newest AP Poll released on Monday. The Wildcats went 1-0 last week with a 68-60 victory over the Connecticut Huskies.

Gonzaga remains the nation’s #1 collecting data 60 of the 64 First Place votes (an improvement from 59 first-place votes last week); Baylor, at #2, tallied the other First Place votes to stay as the top duo for the eleventh consecutive week. Three Big Ten teams — Michigan, Ohio State, and Illinois round out the Top 5 for the second consecutive week. Alabama and Oklahoma are also ranked ahead of ‘Nova.

BIG EAST frenemies Creighton improved a spot to #13 and is the only other team from the conference ranked. Xavier is the only team from the conference receiving votes.

There are no new entries or departures from the AP Top 25.

Villanova next returns to action on Tuesday when they host the St. John’s Red Storm.
