Villanova vs. Syracuse date confirmed

Villanova is set to play Syracuse at Madison Square Garden in the 2021 Jimmy V Classic. Texas Tech will face Tennessee in the second game of that doubleheader and Red Raiders Head Coach Mark Adams let the date slip on the Courtside with Greenberg & Dakich podcast.

“We just found out we’re going to be in the Jimmy V Classic on December the 7th at Madison Square Garden again…We’re gonna play Tennessee.”

Although still unconfirmed, the date of the first Tuesday in December, does align to the historical dates of the event.

This would be Villanova’s fifth time playing in pre-season Classic in New York City. The last time the ‘Cats participated, the Wildcats defeated Gonzaga early in the 2018 National Championship season. Previous to that, ‘Nova lost to Texas in 2008 and to Missouri in 2011, while beating Illinois in December 2014.

‘Cuse and ‘Nova last faced each other during a two-year home & home series across the 2014 & 2015 seasons following the Orange’s departure to the ACC.
