The Kyle Neptune era of Villanova Basketball begins with the Wildcats tabbed at the #16 spot in the 2022-23 AP Preseason Poll. Last season ‘Nova went 30-8 (16-4) and made it to the National Semifinals in April where they lost to eventual National Champion, Kansas.

North Carolina, last season’s National Championship runner-up with four returning starters, will enter the new season as the #1 team as the Tarheels collected 47 of 62 first place votes. Gonzaga (12), Houston (1), Kentucky (2) also received votes for the top spot. Big 12 rivals Baylor and Kansas are tied at the next spot to round out the top 5.

Creighton leads the BIG EAST at the #9 spot and is the only other conference school ranked in the Top 25. UConn and Xavier are also receiving votes.

Looking at other conference representation, the Big 12 and SEC each have five ranked schools to lead the way. The Big Ten, Pac 12 and ACC each have three.

Villanova’s 2022-23 season opens on November 7th when they host LaSalle at the Finneran Pavilion.
