Villanova has previously participated in the early-season event in 2013 and 2017, returning to the Main Line as tournament champions on both occasions. The Wildcats and Baylor are the only two-time champions of the Battle 4 Atlantis.
The Battle is still a full season and two NBA Drafts away, so rosters will be hard to determine. However, the preliminary list of teams including North Carolina, Michigan, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Memphis, Stanford, and Nothern Iowa should provide Kyle Neptune a fantastic early season test and bolster the Wildcats’ non-conference schedule. This trip will most likely be the marquee early-season tournament for ‘Nova and Wildcat Fans.
The 2022-23 season will feature a trip to Portland in November for the Phil Knight Invitational as the Nike founder celebrates his 85th birthday. The North Carolina Tar Heels will be a possible opponent in that tournament as well.
Villanova Fans, how do you feel about a return to the Bahamas? You have 17 months to plan a trip; do you plan on spending Thanksgiving 2023 with the Villanova Basketball squad?
