According to Jon Rothstein, the date and opponent of Villanova’s 2023-24 season may now be known. The CBS Sports reporter has noted that ‘Nova will open head coach Kyle Neptune’s second season hosting American University on November 6th in a game most likely held at The Pavilion.

American went 17-15 overall last season, going 7-11 in the Patriot League. The Eagles have not reached the NCAA tournament since 2014, but are looking to change.
Next season, the Eagles will have a new head coach at the helm as Duane Simpkins has replaced Mike Brennan. Simpkins was recently an assistant on the George Mason bench and a three-year starter at the University of Maryland.
The Eagles will return their top scorer, Matt Rogers, a 6’9” forward who averaged 14.1 points per game last year.
Villanova last faced American in the 2016-17 season. The ‘Cats hold an 11-0 historical advantage over the Eagles.
