It's always good to know there's still balance in the Big East.
After last week's action, 7 of the 10 Big East schools are at least 0.500 in conference play. Villanova still sits in first place at 4-1, but three other schools are breathing down our necks at 4-2. A loss tomorrow to Georgetown means Villanova cedes first place to Georgetown and falls to a 3-way tie for second. That's a worst case scenario- emphasis on WORST.
Seton Hall lost a home game to Butler on Tuesday, meaning they will most likely fall out of the rankings. They should still receive some votes.
St. John's was finally able to grab a win, a big one at Providence. They basically offset it, however, with an OT loss at DePaul yesterday. Marquette needed a final-minute 3-pointer by Matt Carlino to squeeze by Creighton but later dropped a game to Xavier, a team who just lost to Villanova. There's the balance; the middle of the pack keeps changing.
What ISN'T changing is the top and bottom.
Creighton cannot win. They were able to top a ranked Oklahoma squad at home, but that's about it. They are 0-6 to start conference play and seem to truly be in the transition year we expected.
Villanova keeps on winning. We're a free throw away from remaining undefeated and a win at Georgetown will surely silence the remaining doubters out there.

Games of the Day
Creighton vs. Butler
Neither game on Wednesday seems rather interesting, but this one seems more attractive just because we can all possibly witness Creighton lose its first 7 conference games. Me? Bitter? Not at all.
DePaul vs. Seton Hall
I think this will be a big test for both teams. If DePaul wins, they might actually be a team people should fear. If Seton Hall wins, DePaul will forever be overrated and SHU can look forward to getting Isaiah Whitehead.
Seton Hall's Isaiah Whitehead could return Jan. 28 vs. Marquette http://t.co/QIIcqe7bQm— Adam Zagoria (@AdamZagoria) January 15, 2015
Georgetown vs. Marquette
Marquette is again having a down year. They'll most likely finish 9th in the conference barring an incredible turnaround by Creighton. Rebounding will be key in this game. Marquette is a bottom-25 team nationally in RPG while Georgetown is top-150. Needless to say Marquette Coach Steve Wojsaklaahgkfhsdlk will have his hands full with Joshua Smith.
Duke vs. St. John's
I AM SO PUMPED FOR THIS GAME. An SJU win would be HUUUUUUGE for the Big East, and make everyone's win over the Johnnies so much better. Duke has been struggling recently, losing two straight (one at home) before rebounding nicely over Louisville. St. John's just lost to DePaul in overtime so they're nothing short of a rollercoaster ride. It'll depend a lot on D`Angelo Harrison's performance. I also hate Duke so that's another reason I would want them to lose.
