BIG EAST Basketball Preview: TV Schedule, What To Watch For

Big 5 starts this week!

NCAA Basketball: St. John at Seton Hall Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

The conference just had a 7 day stretch full of ups and downs.

Villanova was quiet; only one game where they handled Charleston before Thanksgiving.

Creighton stayed hot, wrapping up the Paradise Jam title and dropping Loyola at the end of the week.

Georgetown rebounded from a rough previous week with an upset over 13th ranked Oregon (yeah!) but then lost two straight to Wisconsin and Oklahoma State. They finished off with a win vs. Howard but does that make up for anything?

Providence advanced to the Emerald Coast Classic Championship game but couldn't get past Virginia. But they gave Memphis their first loss along the way, and played competitively til the end of the tournament.

OH man, BUTLER. The Bulldogs took the Continental Tire Invitational by upsetting 8th ranked Arizona. This game was a treat; one of the most exciting games I've seen all season. And ESPN is noticing us!!!

Marquette played two cupcakes and averaged over 100 points per game.

St. John's. Ugh. Zero showing for the Johnnies in Battle 4 Atlantis as they return to NYC 0-3, losing the last game to Old Dominion. SJU has a trip to Louisiana this week, so let's see if they have a chance to get back on track.

DePaul played a home game against Missouri State and squeaked out a 2-point win on a Billy Garrett Jr. buzzer beater. Proud of you!

Seton Hall started off the AdvoCare Invitational with a close loss to Florida, but ended the tournament with a disappointing showing vs. Stanford. Khadeem Carrington is like a one-man wrecking crew, but not much wrecking went on.

Xavier played Northern Iowa (again!) and won (again!).

Big 5 play starts this week, and Temple just won the NIT Season Tip-Off Championship after back-to-back wins vs. ranked teams. Villanova plays half of their Big 5 schedule this week..
