Weekly BIG EAST Basketball Preview: TV Schedule, What To Watch For

NCAA Basketball: St. John at Villanova Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

Let’s all thank Creighton for making last week just a little unpredictable.

The Bluejays were on both ends of surprising outcome last week, starting last Tuesday when the defeated Butler on the road. This was Butler’s second straight home loss.

But Creighton had an identical fate at home on Saturday when Xavier came in and stole a win. Creighton had a chance to tie or win in in the final seconds but Toby Hegner threw the ball out of bounds when trying to advance it. Creighton has lost three of its last five games.

Xavier got another road win earlier in the week be defeating Seton Hall 72-70. Trevon Bluiett limped off the court during this one, but came back and hit the game-winning shot with just under 5 second left.

Seton Hall fell to 3-6 in conference play with the loss to the Musketeers, but bounced back with a road OT win at Georgetown. The Hoyas now sit in 9th place in the conference, a full 2.5 games ahead of DePaul.

This week we have two conference rivalry games this week for the Wildcats. Villanova welcomes Georgetown (why isn’t this game at Wells Fargo???) before they travel to Xavier, where they lost last year in the top 5 matchup. Thankfully neither of those games are on CBS Sports Network and I can actually watch them at home.
