How to watch Big East Basketball on Christmas

The Big East and television partner Fox Sports 1 have teamed up to bring nostalgic fans a present on Christmas Day.

The Big East has been going for a "retro" feel since announcing their breakaway and re-formation last year, and Fox Sports is no stranger to that dimension. While the predominantly-Catholic conference has sent its student-athletes home to enjoy Christmas with their families, the network hasn't eliminated college hoops from it's line-up this week.

After checking what Santa left for you under the tree, turn on the television to see what the Big East has for you.

Instead of live games, Fox Sports 1 will help you re-live some of the conference's classic showdowns with eight straight hours of replays on December 25th, starting at Noon and carrying through prime time.

Highlighting the event will be a replay of Villanova's historic "Perfect Game" upset of Georgetown in the 1985 National Championship game. St. John's, Georgetown, Marquette, and Butler are all included.

Throughout the day, the Fox Sports 1 team will cut back to the studio, where Bill Raftery and host Rob Stone will offer their thoughts, context, and analysis of each of the four games. Hopefully, those studio segments were recorded in advance, to allow the hosts to spend the day with their families.

If you want to watch the event, the first step is to find Fox Sports 1 on your TV dial. Most of you already know where that is, but in case you are visiting grandma's house this year, find out the zip-code where you'll be, and check online. Next, make sure you know what games are on at any given time.

The lineup is:

12:00 Noon - Georgetown vs. St. John's (1984) - The Johnnies upset the eventual National Champions in the regular season behind a massive effort from Chris Mullins.

2:00 PM - Marquette vs. Butler (2013) - Before they were in the same conference, the Butler Bulldogs battled the Golden Eagles in the NCAA Tournament's third round.

4:00 PM - St. John's vs. Georgetown (1985) - Georgetown and St. John's were two of the best teams in the land throughout the 1984-1985 regular season. This is the Final Four match-up between the two Big East schools that sent the Hoyas back to the title game to face 8-seed Villanova.

6:00 PM - Villanova vs. Georgetown (1985) - The Wildcats were an 8-seed, aided by bracket expansion getting into the postseason tournament. Georgetown was the favorite to repeat as national champs behind star center Patrick Ewing. Things didn't go according to plan, however, as Villanova played a nearly-perfect game.

If you are looking to re-live the past or learn about it, Christmas Day is a perfect time to do it.
