It was a great EYBL run for the Philly team, and Mikal Bridges played well throughout.

Going into the quarterfinals as what some would have considered underdogs against Houston Hoops, Team Final pulled off the win 69-63 in one of the most hyped games of the tournament. The trio of Ja'Quan Newton, Malachi Richardson and Mikal Bridges were spectacular in matching up against the three-headed monster consisting of Justise Winslow, Kelly Oubre and Justin Jackson.

Newton went off again for 22 points, 4 assists, 4 steals and 3 rebounds on 7-14 shooting. Richardson, playing a year up, dropped 13 and 6 while 'Nova-commit Bridges - the forgotten man in pregame hype - showed he's probably due for a bump in the next set of rankings with a stat sheet stuffer effort of 13 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks and a steal in a team-leading 30 minutes. He also shot 3-5 from deep, proving once again he might be a solution to Villanova's outside shooting woes upon arrival.

The victory meant Team Final would face off against the vaunted CP3 All-Stars who were sporting UNC-bound Theo Pinson, Georgetown-bound LJ Peak and one-time target Shelton Mitchell. Despite holding a halftime lead, Team Final eventually fell 87-82, ending their run at the Peach Jam.

Newton never really got it going with a 10 point, 6 assist effort on 4-12 shooting, but his backcourt mate Shep Garner did, recording his best outing of the tournament with 18 points and 7 assists. Malachi Richardson with 23 points and 5 rebounds on 9-18 shooting, while Bridges was strong yet again with 14 points and 7 rebounds on 5-9 shooting.

The Peach Jam concludes the Nike EYBL season, but there are a few more notable events this summer, starting next week with the Nike Global Challenge. 'Nova target Phil Booth is on the USA East roster.

Following 5 round-robin sessions, the quarterfinals are set at the Nike Peach Jam.

All of the round-robin games between the 24 teams have finished, and the final 8 teams have advanced to the elimination round at the Nike EYBL Peach Jam. Here are the final standings.

Out of the teams that Villanova fans should be tracking, only Team Final advanced to the quarters by way of some help from the NY Lightning, who knocked off Spiece Indy Heat early this morning.Team Takeover was eliminated on a head-to-head tiebreaker after an early morning loss to E1T1 Elite, and as has been well documented, Boo Williams had to forfeit 3 games for fielding an ineligible player, but would have qualified based on their results.

Team Final will take on Houston Hoops in what should be one of the most anticipated matchups of the evening, with a talented trio from each team likely matching up directly in the game. Ja'Quan Newton, Malachi Richardson, and Mikal Bridges will face off against Kelly Oubre, Justise Winslow and Justin Jackson. All are consensus Top 100 players in their class.

Here's what the games look like tonight, all starting at 7:30 pm ET.

E1T1 Elite (A1) vs. Meanstreets (D2)

Team Final (B1) vs. Houston Hoops (C2)

Team Scan (C1) vs. Team Penny (B2)

CP3 All-Stars (D1) vs. California Supreme (A2)

The final set of round robin games had major implications to who went home, and who moved on at the Peach Jam.

Heading into the day needing a win, and some help, Team Final got both as they beat Mokan Elite 64-54. Ja'Quan Newton struggled through a 3-10 performance from the field to finish with 12 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds and 4 turnovers. Malachi Richardson and Mikal Bridges both struggled as well going 3-7 and 3-10 from the field respectively. Richardson finished with 10 points, 2 assists and 2 rebounds while Bridges had 8 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals.

Team Takeover is heading home early after falling to E1T1 Elite 73-60. Takeover would have won their pool with a win, but came out hard luck losers. Phil Booth finished with 13 points, 3 rebounds and 1 assist on 4-11 shooting in the loss. Martin Geben, who recently included Villanova in his final 4, finished with 8 points and 2 rebounds in just 15 minutes. Marcus Derrickson was held off the scoresheet in just 7 minutes.

Robert Johnson appears to be the shooter that Villanova fans are craving. Johnson was sensational again for Boo Williams in their narrow loss to Jackson Tigers, dropping 24 points and 3 assists on 4-9 shooting from behind the arc. While Johnson needed a lot of shots to get his points at the Peach Jam, he appeared to be one of the only willing offensive options on his team, so volume is understandable.

In Spiece Indy Heat's loss to NY Lightning, Jonathan Wilkins' again wasn't much of a factor, going for 4 points and 2 rebounds in 11 minutes.

Play continues tonight with the quarterfinals at 7:30, with only Team Final making the cut. Matchups should be released soon.

Several Villanova targets were back in action, and continued to impress at one of the premier AAU competitions in the country.

Team Final dropped another tough one 75-71 to Team Penny on Friday night, bringing them to 2-2 for the tournament. Malachi Richardson continued to struggle shooting the ball, this time going 2-7 from deep.finishing with just 8 points. It was a different story for Ja'Quan Newton and Mikal Bridges (if only these two were talking package deal at Villanova!) as the former dropped 16 points, 9 assists and 6 rebounds while the latter had 14 points, 4 rebounds and 3 blocks. Bridges continued to show he can do it both inside and out, going 3-5 from beyond the arc.

USC, Miami and Minnesota are the schools under consideration for the proposed Newton/Whitehead package deal, but Villanova remains in the mix.

Robert Johnson and Boo Williams have now officially forfeited their fourth game because of an ineligible player, so their 62-56 win over Team Scan was nullified. Johnson was again leading the way for Boo Williams dropping 17 points on 7-17 shooting to go with 5 assists and 3 rebounds. If Johnson had a limited list of suitors before this event, that's going to change soon.

A disastrous showing from Trevon Bluiett and no Trey Lyles meant Spiece Indy Heat falling to Mokan Elite 56-54, but Jonathan Wilkins still doesn't appear much more than a defensive presence. In 26 minutes he scored 4 points, grabbed 2 rebounds and recorded 1 block and 1 steal. At this point, I think he's definitely go to be a plan C behind Ben Bentil and Martin Geben.

It was an easy win for Team Takeover, 69-46 over BABC and the playing time was really split up in this cakewalk. Phil Booth played just 18 minutes, dropping 9 points and 5 assists. The big men didn't have much to show for themselves in limited time either, with Marcus Derrickson dropping 4 points and 3 rebounds and Martin Geben finishing with 5 points and 5 rebounds.

Saturday morning brings the final set of Round Robin games. Team Takeover can clinch the #1 seed in their pool with a win over E1T1 Elite at 12:00 pm. Team Final is in trouble as they lost to Spiece, and will need to beat Mokan Elite as well as have Spiece lost to NY Lightning to advance. Boo Williams has been eliminated.

Several Villanova targets were back in action, and continued to impress at one of the premier AAU competitions in the country.

Clearly frustrated at their tough loss to Spiece Indy Heat the night before, the talented trio of Mikal Bridges, Ja'Quan Newton and Malachi Richardson exploded as Team Final decimated the St. Louis Eagles 94-76 on Friday morning.

In just 24 minutes, Newton went off for 30 points on 8-13 shooting (1-2 3FG, 13-17 FT), 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and no turnovers. While it was Newton who stole the show, Bridges and Richardson weren't far behind. Bridges dropped 15 points on 5-10 shooting (3-6 3FG, 2-2 FT) to go with 9 rebounds and a block while Richardson chipped in 19 points on 5-12 shooting (2-5 3FG, 7-8 FT) in the blowout win.

Several of Villanova's recruiting targets were in action today at one of the top AAU events in the country.

The Nike EYBL (Elite Youth Basketball League) is a 4-week summer series featuring the best AAU teams from around the country. After the 4 week series, which stretches from California to Virginia, the best 24 teams qualify for the EYBL Finals at the Nike Peach Jam.

Here's a brief rundown of how the Villanova targets fared on opening day.

Class of 2014

Mikal Bridges (Team Final)

Bridges led Team Final with 30 minutes played in their opening game win over NY Lightning. His final line was a smooth 3-6 FG (1-2 3FG) for 10 points, coupled with 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal. He was a perfect 3-3 from the FT line to go with 2 turnovers.

In the evening, Bridges went for 10 points on 3-6 shooting (4-4 FT) along with 5 rebounds and 2 assists. He also drew some praise for his athleticism with a highlight reel dunk.

Ja'Quan Newton (Team Final)

Playing alongside Bridges, Newton played a balanced game as the floor general, finishing with 12 points on 4-9 shooting (1-1 3FG, 3-5 FT), 6 assists, 1 rebound, 1 steal and 3 turnovers in 28 minutes against the NY Lightning.

In the nightcap against Spiece Indy Heat, Newton had another strong showing despite Team Final's loss. He went 5-11 from the field (1-4 3FG, 2-3 FT) for 13 points, 5 assists and just 2 turnovers in a team leading 30 minutes.

Newton, along with Phil Booth, will play in the Nike Global Challenge next week.

Phil Booth (Team Takeover)

It was a rough first outing for Booth as Team Takeover fell to Cal Supreme 71-58. Booth never got it working, finishing with 10 points on 2-10 shooting (0-2 3FG, 6-6 FT), 3 assists, 1 rebound and 1 turnover.

Things went much better in the evening for Booth and Takeover, as he finished 3-7 (0-1 3FG, 4-4 FT) for 10 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 turnovers. Booth seemed to impress as a PG for the DMV outfit.

Robert Johnson (Boo Williams)

Johnson struggled, but Boo Williams prevailed over Mac Irvin Fire in the morning. Johnson finished with 13 points on 5-14 shooting (2-7 3FG, 1-1 FT) and 5 turnovers. Johnson came through in the end with a late coast-to-coast bucket to give Boo Williams a lead they wouldn't relinquish.

Johnson really had it working as Boo Williams took down Texas Titans. He finished with 23 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists with just one turnover. He shot 8-18 from the field (4-9 3FG, 3-6 FT) in the win. Johnson's definitely a guy on the rise.

Martin Geben (Team Takeover)

Geben might have been the best player for his team in Takeover's loss to Cal Supreme, going 4-8 from the field to finish with 8 points, 11 rebounds and 2 blocks.

It was 11 points, 4 rebounds and 2 block for Geben on a 3-3 effort from the field to go with a solid 5-6 line at the FT line. While not as well known as some of the other Takeover players, Geben is really getting it done thus far at the Peach Jam.

Despite the strong day from Geben, he showed he's a true team player with this tweet:

Personal performance does not matter if your team loses.

Jonathan Wilkins (Spiece Indy Heat)

Wilkins' teammates never looked for him on offense as he finished 0-1 from the field, but he strutted his other stuff anyways with 8 rebounds and 6 blocks in 26 minutes as Spiece fell to the St. Louis Eagles 68-50.

Spiece came a long way back to edge Team Final, but Wilkins wasn't a big part of the game plan as superstar Trey Lyles took over. Wilkins posted just 7 minutes, going 0-1 from the field with no rebounds.

Class of 2015

Malachi Richardson (Team Final)

While younger than Bridges and Newton, Richardson showed what the hype is all about in the win over NY Lightning. He finished 22 points on 6-12 shooting (2-5 3FG, 8-11 FT) to go with 2 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and 2 turnovers in 26 minutes.

Things didn't go so well at night, as Richardson struggled with his shot en route to a 16 point, 3 rebound, 3 assist and 2 turnover effort. He was 5-13 from the field (1-8 3FG, 5-10 FT) but still managed to impress those in attendance.

Marcus Derrickson (Team Takeover)
